Veganism is considered a new term as it is not as famous as vegetarianism. Many people know what does vegetarian means but they ask what is “vegan”. Being an Indian I know that the concept of vegetarianism is very famous. So why I am saying to turn vegan, what’s new is this?? Is it a foreign term or not suitable in India?? Let’s check out all the questions.
What is “vegetarianism’??
“Vegetarianism” talks only about food. Eating vegetables, fruits, grains in short plant-based Items but includes dairy and honey. Many people include eggs or fish as vegetarian but it is not correct. In many countries, eggs are considered as vegetarian as per their food standards but in India, eggs are not considered vegetarian. In short, it is about food only.
Now second question arises than what is “Veganism”??
“Veganism” means no use of any animal product or service. That means no food whose source is animal no wearable and no use of animals for services.
Animal source foods mean meat, sea animals like fish, turtle, oysters eggs, dairy, honey, birds and any type of animal. Animal services mean the use of animals for rides, fun activities like zoos, circus, etc.
Now question arises why no use of animal product or service??
We know that vegetarian people don’t eat meat or eggs now question is why no dairy and honey what is wrong with it??
Dairy Industry is increasing day by day. People aged above 30 know how much use of dairy products has increased since the past years. But have you ever questioned how these dairy demands are fulfilled, well let me tell you.
This is the budget highlight of 2020. The government has increased artificial insemination programs to increase milk production. Not only government but private dairies do that too. We know that every female body produces milk when she is pregnant, that means for a cow to be able to give milk, she must be pregnant. Now, what is artificial insemination?

Check this link by PETA how this process is done and you will realize how it isn’t any pain-free process. Cow/buffalo tied up and how humans inseminate it, this is not any less than RAPE.
Now lets come to other reasons. Do you still drink your mother’s milk?? Have you seen any living being having milk of her mother after a certain age, but why humans need cow’s milk? We have been taught since childhood that milk has calcium and it is good for bones. But have you questioned that why still you get fracture when you fall, why don’t you have the energy of a calf if you are having milk for 20-30-40 years?? The truth is we don’t need any animal milk. We have so much of plant-sourced proteins, calcium.
In the dairy industry, there is so much suffrage to the cows and buffaloes. They are tied the whole day, their newborn babies are snatched from them because they drink their mother’s milk, if it is a male calf then it is sold to slaughter because it is of no use. The female calf is impregnated by injections, continuously. Still, do you think that it is a natural process?

Many people say that if a cow produces milk extra from the need of its calf hence it is used. Yes, it is true. But do you know that they are fed food such as that their body produces more milk? You must have seen many ads where cow food is sold so that they can produce extra milk. In big dairy industries machines are used for milking them, they are injected so they will give extra milk. And at the end when she will be either sold to illegal slaughter or will be left to die.
Similar type of breeding and suffocation is done in the bees industry. This is all farming nothing is natural hence honey should not be used too.
Fur/leather industry-
Animals fur, their skins, wools are used to make products like clothes, bags, car seats etc.
Animals are skinned alive for fur and leather.
Say no to animal services.
Animals are used for rides , for circuses, jailed in zoos in many traditional activities like during Indian weddings, races etc.
For all these, they are forcefully thrown and used, tied, starved, beaten so that would do what they are asked by their master. There is no willingness but only forceful act.
And when that animal becomes old or is unable to perform then he is left to die.
These all are the reason for going vegan. It is not about only food but it’s a life style that we all should adopt for giving justice to voiceless creatures.
