Dal Dhokli is an all-time favorite Dish of Gujratis. Strips of Wheat dough cooked in Toor sweet and tangy flavored gujrati Toor daal is something we want for dinner.
It is a one-pot meal prepared with toor daal and wheat dough. It does not compulsorily need any flatbread or rice as a side dish, as it is itself a whole meal. But can be served with chapati or rice both.
Gujrati Daal dhokli is prepared with Toor daal and wheat dough. Strips made with dough are cooked in toor daal flavored as sweet, tangy, and spicy all in one.
It is a good recipe idea to make when you have leftover daal or dough or both. To make it vegan I have used oil instead of ghee. Vegan ghee can be used too.
Some mix wheat and gram flour to make dhokli dough. In this recipe, I have used wheat flour only.
Apart from ghee, this is totally a vegan dish. Use oil to make it vegan friendly.
Try to make thin chapati and cut into a square shape. A thick chapati will take very much time in cooking and can be uncooked too. Do not overcrowd.
Keep Daal watery as it dhokli will soak water and will need water for boiling too.
Cook chapati dough in daal for at least 20-25 minutes.
