There is always so much confusion about what to make for breakfast. No one likes to eat the same thing daily. We need some changes and yes it should be healthy right?? But what to make every day???
Different breakfast options in India
Since India has different cultures state wise, so there are many different dishes and eating habits. Poha, Idali, Parathas, Thepla, Khamand and many more. Some people eat only fruits or have toast or bread with butter. But many times we feel like having some hot cooked food. That satisfies the appetite.
There are many healthy vegan options available. As I have discussed earlier, there are many Indian dishes that are by default vegan and cooked beans are one them. There are many types of beans or grams that can be cooked, One is the green gram. This can be eaten raw if soaked overnight too.
For cooking this gram we need-
Ingredients
Mung beans(green gram)- 1 cup boiled
Tomato -1
Green Chilly-1
Oil-2 Tablespoon
Hing- Pinch
Cumin seeds-1Teaspoon
Turmeric Powder-1/2 tablespoon
Salt to taste
Red pepper-1Tablespoon
Lemon Juice
Water 1cup
Coriander to garnish
There are 2 ways to use beans, Either soak mung beans overnight and boil or boil directly in a pressure cooker but boiling directly will take some extra time.
Heat oil in a pan and make tadka of Cumin seeds and hing and turmeric powder. Chop tomato and cut chilly into half. Add this in a pan and fry it until tomato starts leaving oil and is properly cooked.
Now put boiled mung beans, Salt, red pepper and water 1cup and mix it. Keep this on medium flame and cook until its starts boiling. Now add lemon juice and serve.
