These pav buns require 7 Ingredients to make the dough. These are easy to make and can be used in Making Pav bhaji or vada pav or like a homemade burger. These buns are totally vegan, like no dairy or butter or eggs, nothing!
Though I made these buns from all purpose flour so can not be said ‘healthy’ but I have not baked them in microwave oven instead I baked them directly on the gas stove.
Now there are many different methods to bake pav on the stove like baking them in a Pan or in a pressure cooker but I baked them in Baati oven. Many of the readers might not know what is Baati oven. Well, Baati oven is used to make Rajsthani(Indian state) cuisine “Baati” It is round-shaped wheat balls, baked in this oven.
So jumping to the recipe-
Preparation time- 1.45hrs Baking Time- 1hr
All purpose flour- 2cups
Dry yeast- 1tsp
Baking soda- 1/4th tsp
Baking powder- 1/2tsp
Salt to taste
Water for dough
For making dough-
Activate dry yeast by adding 2tbsp lukewarm water and little sugar. Keep like this for around 15-20 minutes to activate yeast properly.
To make dough take all the dry ingredients mix well and then add activated yeast and oil. Start kneading the dough by using water. Don’t make the dough too tight, keep it little loose. Knead well for 5-10 minutes. Now keep it aside in a pan for around 1.30hrs and let it rise.
After it rises well knead again and add a few drops of oil as well. Make dough balls like shown in the picture, brush oil on balls. Meanwhile keep Bati oven on the stove on low flame to preheat.
Now take a plate or a bowl friendly for the oven, brush it with oil and keep all the buns in the plate. Keep a folded newspaper on the oven’s net so that plate doesn’t get a direct flame. Keep the plate in the oven and cover it.
Bake for 1 hr, then check if buns got the orange/brown baking color.
Now brush again with some oil and keep it aside to cool down.
Note- Rising of flour is the most important thing for sponge and kneading too.
