In this blog I will try to explain how can you make dhokla or khamand.
Basically it’s steaming the stuff. You can make it in the microwave too. If you are trying to make this on the stove, then follow the following steps-
- Take a big pot, place it on the stove on high flame.
- Add enough water that doesn’t evaporate in 20-30 minutes. Or till 3-4 inches from the surface of the pot.
- Now place a utensil like a bowl or something that has a wall of 2-3 inches.
- Now Grease a plate with oil in which you are going to add Dhokla/khamand batter. Add batter and place it in the pot on that utensil.
- Don’t put too much water that it comes to your batter plate.
- Water should be enough to steam it and not to burn the main vessel.
- Cover the pot with a lid and slow down the flame to.minimum and keep for 20-25 minutes.
- Check dhokla is cooked or not with a toothpick. If it’s sticky then keep for another 5-10.minutes.
- Remove the plate and let it cool down before cutting into blocks.
